Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
The University of Colorado College of Nursing has an opening for a full time (1.0 FTE) Faculty Certified Nurse-Midwife position at our central location.
The Center for Midwifery is a private practice model which works collaboratively within the department of OB/GYN. We offer women and families many services including individualized care, alternative labor/birth options, childbirth education, lactation services, mental health services, water birth and referrals to physician groups in other departments. The practice provides full-scope midwifery care to women at three locations with births occurring at the University of Colorado Hospital Birth Center in Aurora, Colorado. CFM believes that women benefit from personalized and comprehensive care that focuses on the patient while including the family in the plan of care. We serve women who desire an alternative labor and birth experience with water birth option. The nurse-midwife will be part of a midwifery service that has a long and successful history within the University of Colorado system.
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing or midwifery
Current AMCB certification
Current RN and APN Licensures (any state - could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with CO Department of Regulatory Agencies.)
Current Prescriptive Authority Licensure (Any state, but must have CO RXN by date of hire. strong new grad will be considered without RXN).
A minimum of two years of full scope practice providing antepartum, intrapartum, postpartumm well woman, and gynecological care. a Strong new graduate will be considered.
Current BLS and NRP Certification
Current DEA Licensure within 18 months of hire
Valid NPI number by date of hire
valid Colorado Medicaid Provider number by date of hire
completed CAQH profile by date of hire
Experienced in water birth and alternative labor/birth options
Current CO RN & APN licensures
Current and active CO Prescriptive Authority & DEA
Limited OB ultrasound skills
Previous preceptor experience
Skill and Ability Requirements:
Independent judgment to monitor and respond to changes in a client’s condition
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients and other members of the health care team
Proficient use of the electronic medical health record
Development and promotion of practice
Strong collaborative nature
Active participation in health plan contracts.
Remain credentialed by the health plans and ensure credentialing materials stay current.

As part of the clinical experience offered at the University of Colorado, the College of Nursing operates faculty practices at the University of Colorado Hospital which include the University Nurse Midwives (UNM) and The Center for Midwifery (CNM). All our certified nurse midwives (CNMs) are board-certified registered nurses with master’s degrees. They are experts in women’s health, pregnancy and ...birth, and they support all of their clients’ physical and emotional needs during pregnancy, childbirth and after delivery. We are the only facility in the Denver metro area that offers water birth as a delivery option for expectant mothers.
