Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
Administrative role to support the clinical needs of the birthing center, maximize the ability of the midwifery staff to perform clinical duties, coordinate and direct ancillary staff, meet with new clientele, act as a liaison with the Executive Director.
*Provide a work environment safe and free from hazards; immediately address or inform management of safety issues or potential hazards; adhere to Health and Safety Policies and Procedures; participate in all safety programs, which may include assignment to an emergency response team.
*Development and maintenance of birth center policies & procedures and practice protocols.
*Participate in Health Department site visits with the owner and Executive Director.
*Performs all necessary client consults as well as all patient care outside the scope of a LM/CPM.
*Availability to all staff for consultation & other concerns
*Prepares patient charts on a daily basis by preparing all necessary lab requisitions, testing supplies, required forms, and required signatures
*Reviews patient care records on a daily basis for appropriate documentation of care received and performs chart audits
*Maintain quality assurance and optimal patient care
*Identify and address staff education through clinical hands-on coaching/teaching and /or provision of structured education programs
*Hires, terminates, counsels, and conducts performance evaluations and corrective actions of clinical staff as required for the effective functions of the department
*All hiring and orientations for new midwives and students/birth assistants
*Performs duties such as completion and posting of schedules for students and student trainings
*Schedule and officiate at staff meetings when needed and maintain staff meeting agenda
*Oversee outside contracts for labs, hazardous materials pickup, and others as needed
*Oversee all inventory and ordering in order to maintain stock and function of daily birth center needs
*Maintains facility safety checklists, including expiration dates of supplies and medications
*Coordinates facility environmental needs, including housekeeping activities, linen services and facilitating maintenance work orders
*Oversee the maintenance of statistics with MANA
*Strategic planning in conjunction with the owner and Executive Director
*Performs other duties as assigned
Educational Requirements: CNM, ND, or similar degree is required. Experience with midwifery care or out-of-hospital birth required. Language Skills: Professional use of written and oral English language required. Computer Skills: Proficient with MS Office, Word, Excel, Maternity Neighborhood, Outlook and Internet.
Ability to perform the job duties of the Clinical Director with proficiency. Exhibit an expert knowledge base of the work environment, laws regulating Arizona midwives, communication, and people skills. The Birth Haven is a small LM, CPM owned birth center in Gilbert, AZ. We have 2 full time midwives, 1 part time midwife, an office manager, and Executive Director. We are looking for a Clinical Director to round out our staff.
