Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
Midwife Seattle is seeking a Certified Nurse-Midwife to join a small and growing midwifery practice in Seattle. We are committed to a holistic, evidence-based approach to healthcare. We also value and cultivate positive relationships with the medical, midwifery and naturopathic communities of Seattle. We are excited about investing in midwives, leadership development and our community while providing loving care to our clients.
Our services include perinatal care, birth attendance (at home or freestanding birth center) and women’s healthcare. We are also developing a miscarriage support program. We are currently a two-midwife practice. There is a 3-to-6-month intensive orientation period (first three months of which are probationary) prior to working independently and ongoing mentoring as needed. Births are always attended with a birth assistant, who is most often another midwife. On-site sonography training is provided until competency achieved.
This practice is special in that our care is very personalized, allowing us to gain wisdom by following cases from beginning to end and listening to women's stories. We have much clinical autonomy and can apply our creativity to care as well as our understanding of best practice. We also value caring relationships within our team (which includes administrators, insurance billers and a bookkeeper, in addition to midwives). We are looking for just the right fit for our unique practice and request a 3-year commitment after completion of orientation.
This position requires competency in full-scope midwifery with an appreciation of holistic health, evidence-guided practice and respect for client autonomy. It also requires flexibility, strong work ethic, compassion, professional demeanor, detail-orientation and excellent communication skills. At least 1-2 years of experience in midwifery or labor and delivery nursing is strongly preferred. Completion of didactic portion of limited OB ultrasound is required prior to start date.
