Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
Excellent opportunity for an experienced full-time Certified Nurse Midwife to join our team. At McDowell OBGYN the CNM’s are an integral part of a collaborative practice with 3 physicians, an additional CNM, as well as, a robust clinical and office staff. The midwife is expected to create a panel of his/her own patients while serving the needs of shared patients within the practice. McDowell Hospital in Marion, NC is currently under construction at a cost of $45 million it will include a new hospital and a Medical Office Building. The medical office building will include McDowell Women’s Care, McDowell Surgical Services, Urology, and Wound Care.
Nature of Practice:
CNM will work 5 days in office, 8 hours per day (weekly schedule will vary based on call coverage). Office volumes should ramp up to 24 patients per day. Will service patients in the hospital, practice and surrounding health department settings. CNM will assist in call coverage approximately 30-45 days per year. Which will consist of deliveries and triage of care after hours with a physician to back up call coverage. Call coverage will be determined by vacation needs throughout the year within the practice.
Treatment may include, but is not limited to: Low & High Risk Obstetric Care, including New OBs, intrapartum, and antepartum & postpartum. Basic primary care & treatment. Triage of OB and post-partum problems (managing care within scope of practice). Well Woman Care including annual GYN exams and GYN conditions within scope of practice. Nutritional & Smoking Cessation & Counseling in accordance with patient’s health problems. Diagnostic testing to include laboratory testing, x-rays, imaging studies. Consultation and referral to physicians or other health care professionals with in health system. The physicians must cosign all charts of Certified Nurse Midwife for the first 6 months and then 1 every month thereafter.

Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and Midwifery program. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Current CNM & NC RN License required. License with a Certification in Midwifery from the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB). Must maintain BLS, ACLS, NRP and current DEA license. The ideal candidate is patient driven, enjoys working with an undeserved population in a rural setting; has strong interpersonal skills and an innate ability to work effectively with patients and other members of the health care team. Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an OBGYN office.
