Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
Busy OB/GYN practice in Columbus, GA is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife to provide women's health care for both gynecologic and obstetric patients.
As a well-established practice with over 20 years of midwifery service, our midwives work with 7+ supportive OBGYN physicians at our Women’s Hospital conveniently located across the hall. The midwifery team is looking to expand their services by adding a fulltime CNM. The midwives have a designated clientele whom they manage independently or collaboratively based on the needs of the patients. The Practice has on-site ultrasound, lab, and mammogram services as well as a physician on-site for consultation and collaboration. Our midwives attend 300+ births per year with a very low primary C-section rate. Our Midwives serve a diverse population of women including a large number of military families. The community is very supportive of midwifery care and we provide independent and collaborative care to women throughout the childbearing cycle for family planning and gynecologic needs. Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview, and examination. Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate using EMR.
Provides education/counseling to patient and patient's family with respect to pregnancy, childbirth, care of the newborn, contraception, family planning, and gynecological care.
Provides care for obstetric patients to include pregnancy induced hypertension, gestational diabetes, multiple gestations, and routine labor management.
Manages patients with and without epidural infusions, Pitocin protocols, and other labor pharmaceuticals. Performs appropriate emergency interventions and manages complications.
Collaborates with the on-call obstetrician as needed. Rounds on postpartum patients.
Provides care in the context of promoting age and culture-appropriate informed choices, shared decision-making and the right to self-determination.
Attends and reassures patient through course of labor, monitors condition of fetus, administers medications, notifies physician of prolonged labor or any complications indicating need for possible surgical intervention.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM); NRP Certification; Licensed as a Midwife in the State of Georgia or eligible; GA DEA License
