This position offers the opportunity to become part of a Women’s Health provider team that cares for an established rural patient population, while helping to meet growing practice demands. LivingstonHealthcare and the Shane Lalani Family Birth Center offer a full complement of low to medium risk obstetrical and gynecological services to women from a large geographic area in south central Montana. The selected applicant will be a member of a collaborative, inter-professional team with a shared commitment to providing safe, respectful, and family-centered care to all patients.
Under indirect supervision, the CNM will provide women’s health care, focusing primarily on pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period and lactation, and the family planning and gynecological needs of women. The CNM will perform consultation, collaborative management, or referral as indicated by the health status of the patient and practice in accord with the Standards for the Practice of Midwifery, as defined by the American College of Nurse-Midwives.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
The CNM provides full scope nurse-midwifery care in the clinic and Family Birth Center. In collaboration with the physicians, the essential job functions include:
Antepartum care in collaboration with one OB/GYN and several family medicine/OB providers.
Intrapartum care and Birth Center triage (may be required to work on-call for up to 24 hours).
Postpartum care (inpatient and outpatient).
Well-woman gynecology and family planning.
Clinical education of medical & nursing students, residents, staff and peers.
Participation in Divisional and organizational activities, community outreach & service.
Follow established departmental policies, procedures and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental and/or infection control standards .
Related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Knowledge of midwifery theory, procedure and standards.
Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care programs.
Ability to perform patient assessment and triage.
Knowledge of gynecological health issues and standards.
Ability to work within the scope of practice guidelines and appropriately direct patients for followup as their healthcare needs dictate.
Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops for patients, community and professional colleagues.
Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
License: possession of a valid Montana Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Montana Board of Registered Nursing OR an eNLC (enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact) multistate license and
Education: Possession of a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university and
Certification: Possession of National Board Certification as a Certified Nurse-Midwife by the American Midwifery CertificationBoard (with participation in the Certificate Maintenance Program) and
Experience: One (1) year (equivalent to 2000 hours) clinical experience as a practicing Certified Nurse-Midwife and
BLS and NRP certified.
