1.Provides obstetrical and gynecological outpatient and inpatient care, in consultation with a supervising physician as necessary.
2.Provides primary health care services to women, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention.
3.Obtains health histories and performs physical exams in a safe, thorough and timely fashion.
4.Provides family planning services.
5.Provides safe and sensitive antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and gynecological care.
6.Provides wellness care for women, including screening and immunization.
7.Teaches health promotion, wellness, and disease prevention.
8.Diagnoses and, in conjunction with the patient and supervising physician, manages pregnancy and childbirth.
9.Orders, conducts, and interprets diagnostic studies, laboratory tests and fetal assessments.
10.Prescribes medication according to written protocols.
11.Participates with clinic providers in on-call schedule.
12.Prepares and maintains medical patient reports and records.
13.Participates in the training of nursing students, midwifery students, nurse practitioners, medical students, and medical residents.
1.Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin.
2.Completion of a baccalaureate nursing program.
3.Completion of a Certified Nurse Midwifery Program from an accredited institution.
4.Certified as a Nurse Midwife.
5.Eligible for prescriptive authority in the State of Wisconsin.
6.Working knowledge of the social and cultural factors associated with the community’s use of social and health care services.
7.Ability to understand patient attitudes and needs, develop and orient program goals and concepts accordingly, and to work effectively toward their accomplishment with all staff members.
8.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, officials, the public, patients, other private and public organizational representatives, health care personnel and community groups and organizations.
9.Ability to work under pressure, maintain personal composure, evaluate situations and act/react appropriately, and use tact in dealing with visitors, patients and difficult situations.
10.Ability to identify and maintain confidential material.
11.Ability to interpret and conform program operations to applicable laws, rules, regulations and funding source requirements and according to acceptable standards.
12.Spanish speaking preferred.
