Chief – Nurse Midwife
In conjunction with the Chief of Service and/or OB/GYN physicians, you will supervise the Certified Nurse Midwifes. In this role, you will independently manage the care of low risk women during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods. You will co-manage higher risk patients when determined appropriate by the CNM and MD. In addition, you will also provide standard maternity care and counseling to women adhering to the standards of the American College of Nurse Midwives, procedures, and instructions regulated by the State Nurse Practice Act and The Permanente Medical Group.
At least three years of experience as a Certified Nurse-Midwife
Two years of supervisory experience preferred
A graduate of a nurse midwifery program accredited by the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM)
A high school diploma or GED
A current and valid California RN license, California Nurse Midwife certificate, ACNM certification, and BLS certification
A current and valid California Nurse-Midwife furnishing certification (including any needed education in pharmacy) and didactic education and supervised clinical experience in third trimester limited obstetric ultrasound preferred
A current and valid DEA registration number specific to our practice at Kaiser Permanente to be obtained
A National Provider Identifier (NPI) or the ability to obtain one prior to employment start date
The ability to work in teams and have effective communication and listening skills
An understanding of all regulatory requirements and legal consequences of midwifery care
A track record of following the precautionary and preventive measures in giving patient care
The ability to exercise professional prerogatives based on sound clinical judgment
The ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment
