Seeking a Certified Nurse-Midwife to practice midwifery in a culturally-diverse Refugee Women’s Health Clinic at a teaching hospital in the Phoenix metro area. Full time day position.
Must be able to work in a variety of clinic settings and provide inpatient midwifery services. Applicant must have excellent interpersonal skills and an outstanding work ethic. Prior experiences in cross-cultural care, and community service are preferred, while speaking additional language(s) are a plus.
This unique position includes providing OB/GYN health care to refugee women from around the world both in an outpatient clinic as well as inpatient hospital setting. Our comprehensive, innovative and nationally-recognized Refugee Women’s Health Clinic provides team-based, patient-centered care that integrates Cultural Health Navigators who are certified medical interpreters speaking 15 languages, and who also serve as critical cultural brokers in building trust, health literacy, and facilitating care coordination and patient navigation in order to enhance the provision of quality, culturally informed, and linguistically appropriate health care. There are many opportunities to become involved in cutting edge research and specialty services for this population such as in the provision of care to women who have experienced Female Genital Cutting, and/or are survivors of Gender-Based Violence.
We provide holistic and culturally-grounded services to serve women in a professional, culturally, and linguistically-appropriate manner, while seeking to reduce/eliminate health disparities and cultural barriers to care. This position requires the following:
Providing Prenatal Care for routine and high risk women
Triaging pregnant patients presenting to the hospital for a variety of complaints (16-40+ weeks)
Interpreting Antepartum Testing results and making management decisions regarding care of high risk women (in consultation with MFM)
Educating and Managing women with Diabetes in pregnancy
Rounding on low risk Postpartum patients
Working as part of an Integrated Team of physicians and midwives in a high risk medical-model setting
Supervising and Educating Residents
Providing Preventive Health Services
Counseling patients on all contraceptive options
Inserting IUDs and Contraceptive Implants
The position would include employment through District Medical Group Inc. (“DMG”) a 400+ physician multi-specialty group working within Maricopa Integrated Health System (MIHS).
