Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
JOB TITLE: Advanced Practice Provider Radiology
LOCATION: Geisinger Medical Center

JOB SUMMARY: Assist supervising physician in the care and work up of patients to include:
Perform and record comprehensive history and physical examination
Execute and relay medical regimens as directed by the supervising physician and/or as described in the work agreement between the advanced practice provider and the supervising physician
Provide outpatient care in the Radiology clinic including initial consultation and follow up appointments as needed, enjoy no call work week
Inform the physician of all changes in the patient's ongoing condition
Collect ongoing data and write pertinent notes on patient's chart on a daily basis
Assess patient's post-procedural course and implement indicated therapy
Make routine rounds as directed by the supervising physician
Evaluate inpatient/outpatient orders. Order labs and imaging as needed for pre/post-procedural procedures
As indicated by his/her training and experience perform therapeutic procedures as directed by the supervising physician, including but not limited to the following: paracentesis, thoracentesis, mediport removal, tunneled line removal, chest tube placement and removal, ultrasound and CT guided biopsy (head/neck, soft tissue, solid organ, intra-abdominal), ultrasound guided venous access, assist supervising physician in procedures as needed

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Must obtain and maintain BLS, demonstrate computer literacy, accurate and timely charting via Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Clinical inpatient, outpatient.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must be a graduate of an ARC approved physician assistant program, eligible or certified by the NCCPA and eligible or licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine. Certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners and completion of Master's degree required. Must be eligible for licensure as a nurse practitioner in the state of PA. Current certification in BLS and an updated CPR card required. Degree of professional training to qualify as a physician assistant/nurse practitioner both professionally and legally to perform all services indicated by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and licensure as described in the policy and procedure manual for utilization of physician assistants/nurse practitioners within the Geisinger system required. Completion of an approved graduate program required. Completion of an approved ACLS program preferred.

GEISINGER MEDICAL CENTER (GMC), located in Danville, PA, the largest tertiary/quaternary care teaching hospital in the region, is licensed for 475 beds, including 89 pediatric beds in the Janet Weis Children's Hospital. GMC, a Magnet Hospital, maintains the region's only Level 1 Region Resource Trauma Center with additional qualifications in pediatrics.
