Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
The UNC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Midwifery is seeking a certified nurse-midwife for a permanent faculty position at the Clinical Instructor rank. Responsibilities will include providing full-range obstetrical and well-women gynecological health care in an established midwifery clinical practice of twelve midwives. This position’s responsibilities include performing full-scope midwifery care and facilitating Centering Groups in outpatient settings; providing 24/7 call, in-hospital deliveries and postpartum rounds of midwifery patients; and responding to emergent inpatient obstetrical/postpartum events as needed. Additional responsibilities will include educating professional health care students, developing women’s ambulatory service programs and participating in departmental and divisional projects and activities. Practice locations will include the NC Women’s Hospital and UNC OB-GYN at Weaver Crossing (both in Chapel Hill), UNC OB-GYN at Panther Creek (Cary) and any future UNC locations. Position will include shared distribution of clinics and call (24/7) among the current ten midwives providing these services.

A bachelor’s degree in Nursing and a master’s degree in Midwifery are both required. Must hold a NC nursing license and approval to practice as a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) in North Carolina. At least three years of experience as a CNM is preferred, although new grads will be considered with the following experience. Experience in a tertiary medical center, EPIC and Centering Pregnancy are required. Bi-lingual competence in Spanish is highly desirable. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

The UNC Department of OB-GYN is a dynamic Department with ten divisions, including Global Women's Health. It is located in the beautiful Research Triangle of North Carolina, with other major universities, the beach and the mountains in close range. There are 11 other midwives in the practice, plus the position for which we're recruiting. The UNC Midwifery Division was established in 1999 and has a strong foundation in the community. As well as working in a private practice, the midwives are involved in medical student and resident education.
