Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
The Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM), APRN will work in Labor and Delivery, triage and clinic settings to provide antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patient care services. The CNM will be expected to triage women who present to Labor and Delivery and to manage the care of essentially healthy women in labor. CNMs provide comprehensive health assessments, determine diagnoses, implement treatment plans, prescribe medical treatments and manage health issues for patients in collaboration with the designated physicians. The CNM will work autonomously as well as in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage patients’ health care problems, and will serve as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate. The CNM will also coordinate the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, assuring that care is timely and appropriate.
The CNM will extend the patient care and administrative services of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences physicians.

Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary. Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines. Assist internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service. The CNM will extend the patient care and administrative services of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences physicians.

Valid License as an APRN by the State of Arkansas Required and National Board Certification for Nurse-Midwifery, Prescriptive authority and DEA license must be obtained after hire. Minimum 2 years experience as a nurse-midwife. Experience working in an academic medical center is preferred. Demonstrated communication (written and oral) problem-solving, leadership and collaborative skills, strong patient advocacy and patient education skills.
