The Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM), APRN will work in Labor and Delivery, triage and clinic settings to provide antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patient care services. The CNM will be expected to triage women who present to Labor and Delivery and to manage the care of essentially healthy women in labor. CNMs provide comprehensive health assessments, determine diagnoses, implement treatment plans, prescribe medical treatments and manage health issues for patients in collaboration with the designated physicians. The CNM will work autonomously as well as in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage patients’ health care problems, and will serve as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate. The CNM will also coordinate the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, assuring that care is timely and appropriate. The Women and Infants Service Line of UAMS is expanding available services to provide care for the women in our community who seek nurse-midwife services. The CNM practice plans to provide 24 hour x 7 day service by the summer of year 2020. Nurse-midwives will be scheduled to work a combination of 8, 12 and 24 hour shifts. In order to assure CNM coverage 24x7, scheduled shifts may require adjustment on short notice. Responsibilities:The CNM will extend the patient care and administrative services of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences physicians. Customer Service: Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed. Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary. Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines. Assist internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service. The CNM will extend the patient care and administrative services of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences physicians. Valid License as an APRN by the State of Arkansas Required and National Board Certification for Nurse-Midwifery, Prescriptive authority and DEA license is required but may be obtained after hire. Experience preferred. Will consider a new CNM graduate. The in-person response time requirement is 2 hours. Demonstrated communication (written and oral) problem-solving, leadership and collaborative skills, strong patient advocacy and patient education skills.
