Pomerene Hospital is located in the heart of Ohio’s Amish Country. Amish patients make up nearly 50% of our customer (even higher for midwifery). With our unique customer focus, we provide a three-bedroom furnished “Amish House” on our premises. Amish families who come from afar to seek medical treatment may stay at the “Amish House” to be near their loved ones, and Amish patients with an early morning surgical procedure where transportation may be difficult can also use the “Amish House.” As an organization, we take pride in our culture and provide every employee with cultural training so that great care is given to every patient, every time.

About Pomerene Hospital
Pomerene Hospital Company was established in 1919 as a not-for-profit corporation with the goal of building a hospital in Holmes County. County taxpayers later passed a 1.5-mil levy to supplement the money donated by the Pomerene family and build the Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital, which opened its doors on June 1, 1937, as a county hospital. Midwifery services are one of the leading services at Pomerene.
Today, we have more than 325 employees, 150 volunteers and a medical staff of 80 with more than forty active providers. After several major renovations and expansion projects, the hospital has three floors and more than thirty departments. Pomerene is one of the largest employers in Holmes County and serves the greater Holmes County area with some patients residing in contiguous counties.
