Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
The Minnesota Birth Center (www.theminnesotabirthcenter.com) is seeking a CNM for a benefits-eligible, salaried role, who will provide full scope midwifery care, including: antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum and well woman care, in our free-standing birth center. Well woman care includes screening, contraceptive initiation and management, and risk assessment.
A qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and formal training program; have a current, or be eligible for, MN APRN license, and be approved or eligible by the Minnesota Board of Nursing for prescription writing privileges. Candidates must be certified through American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB), meet criteria and qualifications for insurance payers, and be able to complete credentialing to obtain privileges at local hospitals.
This position will begin at an appointment of .5 (5 units worked per 2 week pay period); ideal candidates will have bandwidth to flex up to a 1.0 (10 units/pay period) depending on birth volume and to cover for a LOA in early 2021.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work a mix of clinic and call shifts
Call shifts are generally 24 hours and count as 2 units of work.
Clinic shifts are closer to 8 hours and count as 1 unit of work.
Facilitate orientation events for prospective clients and circle care for prenatal and postpartum families
Provide prenatal, postpartum, and well woman care
Attend quarterly all-staff meetings and CMN meetings, held every 3 weeks
Participate in 3 clinical drills per year
Complete birth statistics documentation using AABC’s Perinatal Data Registry (PDR)
Licensed to practice midwifery in Minnesota
APRN licensed and DEA and AMCB certification
NRP & BLS certification
Must be able to be credentialed at Abbott and United Hospitals

Demonstrate competence in interpersonal communication, clinical CNM skills, and cooperative teamwork.
Must be enthusiastic about and able to lead individuals and teams in an out-of-hospital birth setting.
Flexibility to adapt to the ever-changing healthcare environment.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Must be able to walk up and down stairs repeatedly
Must be flexible enough to attend births in a variety of positions - kneeling/squatting/waterbirth/hands and knees/etc
