Overview The Birthplace is located within University of MN Masonic Childrens Hospital, which provides an exceptional focus to family centered care. Staff on the Birthplace are committed to provide families with the knowledge and skills to achieve their goals, as well as recognize the importance of families feeling empowered in their care and their expectations at birth. The Birthplace supports not only women in our culturally diverse community, but also support women across the state whom may need additional attention due to a high risk pregnancy or fetal diagnosis. Provider care is supported by OB Physicians, Maternal Fetal Medicine Physicians, Family Practice Physicians, Certified Midwives, and Anesthesiologists. Our collaborative team supports both low risk and high risk pregnancies and births. If applicable to support additional clinical needs of our newborns, a Level 4 Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is located just across the hall from the Birthplace. With our partnership with the University of MN, The Birthplace supports the development of Student Nurses and Residents through onsite observation and training. This addition also helps continue to enhance our evidence based practice and ongoing professional learning. Labor and Delivery:
This position will be working 56 hours every two weeks on the night shift, 8 hour shifts, every other weekend. There is a $4.00 shift differential on the night shift. The position is eligible for benefits.
After gaining Low and high risk labor experience, nurses will be trained to circulate in the OR. L&D Nurses also have the opportunity to apply for our FLEX team after a year of Labor and OR experience. In this position they will extend their clinical skill set to also support the continuum of care for the mother and baby couplet on the NFCC when staffing needs arise. Required:
