General Surgeon

ChristianaCare is searching for BC/BE general surgeon to join the Department of Surgery to work at the Christiana (913 beds) and Wilmington (214 beds) campuses located in Newark and Wilmington, DE respectively. These campuses are located 15 minutes apart on the I-95 corridor. The general surgeons will provide consistent and quality surgical services for the Wilmington and Christiana Emergency Department and inpatient hospital referrals while providing on-site, on-demand access for referrals from physicians in The Medical Group of Christiana Care. The General Surgeons will participate in the busy, and growing, Emergency General Surgery Service at Christiana Hospital, with an opportunity to build an elective general surgery practice . The ChristianaCare General Surgery practice consists of 14 full time general surgeons, including subspecialty expertise in MIS/Foregut, Hernia, Bariatrics, and Endocrine surgery.

Key responsibilities:

• Optimize the quality of care for patient health by providing stable, reliable coverage to the Emergency Departments and elective general surgery.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and an excellent patient experience in the pre-, intra- and post-operative settings.
• Function as a 'surgical hospitalist' partnering with the surgical critical care surgeons for Inpatient ICU demands.
• Provide surgical faculty supervision to the Christiana Care Department of Surgery Surgical Residency Program and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship.
• Support Christiana Care's Department of Surgery efforts in clinical research.
