Per Diem Midwife at Boston Medical Center, Boston, MA The Midwives at Boston Medical Center are looking to hire a per-diem member of our talented team. Assignments will include our inpatient midwifery locations (labor and delivery, triage unit and post-partum rounding). This job is a great way to gain experience in a fast paced, collaborative, teaching environment in a practice dedicated to reducing racial health disparities in maternity care. Spanish and Haitian Creole language is preferred but not necessary. At least two years of midwifery experience and current MA CNM license is required. Hours per month vary depending on service needs. About our group: BMC is a tertiary care center and New England’s largest safety net hospital. We serve a diverse, multicultural population, and have approximately 900 midwife-attended births/year. Our midwifery service provides full-scope midwifery care to women in 7 neighborhood health centers, the hospital OB/GYN clinic, and our Adolescent Center. We provide labor and delivery coverage 24 hrs/day, cover our post-partum service 7 days a week, and run our busy triage unit 7 days a week. We work in a collaborative model with highly supportive obstetricians, perinatologists, and Family Medicine physicians. We are a diverse group of 20 staff midwives and 6 per-diem midwives who together speak English, Spanish, French, Thai, Cape Verdean Creole and Haitian Creole. We are committed to holistic care for women and families, and to reducing racial disparities in maternity care. We have a robust Centering Pregnancy Program, and have developed services such as our Birth Sisters Program, a multi-cultural doula service offering home visiting and labor support.
