About M.A.M.A.S., Inc.
M.A.M.A.S., Inc. stands for "Metro Area Midwives and Allies Services" or "Mujeres Ayudando Mujeres Ála Salud." We serve Washington, DC and close-in Maryland suburbs for health care within the maternity cycle, as well as GYN, pre-conception/interconception, fertility/IUI, breastfeeding, early parenting, and primary care. All services were available in the client's home before the pandemic--now many of them are done in our home office or virtually on zoom. Visits during the last month of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum visits are in the client's home. Client families practice social distancing, masking at all visits, and quarantining for at least 2 weeks before birth.
During the prenatal period we offer "Community Care," a hybrid group prenatal care model that alternates virtual group visits with office and in-home individual visits to optimize personalized care and promote the development of communities of families within the M.A.M.A.S. service area. Often care with us begins with a preconception gyn visit, segues into the maternity cycle, and continues after birth into gyn and primary care. Some relationships start with in-home IUI services and continue from there.... Others begin with prenatal care.
M.A.M.A.S. is a private, independent midwifery service. We also enjoy excellent inter-professional relations with MFMs, OBs, in-hospital midwifery services, and other health care providers around the DC Metro area.
