UNIT DESCRIPTION The NICU/Neonatal Transport Service provides care and treatment for high-risk neonates. Evaluation and treatment begins at the referring facility and is continued during the neonateas hospital stay. Care in the NICU is provided until the patient is discharged home or transferred to another facility. Childrenas Neonatal Service is an extension of services provided by the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Childrenas Hospital. This service locates a neonatal nurse clinician at referral hospitals to assist with newborn care at the time of deliveries as well as the provision of neonatal expertise throughout the childbirth continuum.
