Summary:
The Lactation Educator is responsible for assessing, educating and assisting with patients and families who have demonstrated or expressed special needs for lactation assistance in collaboration with the patients primary nurse and physician.
Qualifications:Required Training/Education/Experience/Certification:
A.S. or equivalent required, B.A./B.S. Prefered
(1) Current California RN License; BLS and NRP (within 6 months of Hire) (2) Certification as Lactation Educator; (3) IBCLC - International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Experience working with neonates and performing physicial assessments.
Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must be fluent in spoken and written English and preferably Spanish. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
