Lebanon Valley Midwifery and Women’s Wellness and the Lebanon Valley Birth Center, an 18-year-old growing autonomous midwifery practice and birth center, is seeking a Certified Nurse-Midwife to join our practice in the beautiful Lebanon Valley.
This is a wonderful opportunity to work with other midwives and provide care in a community that desires and values midwifery care. The licensed, CABC (Commission on Accreditation of Birth Centers) accredited care the birth center affords is unique to this area and not otherwise available nearby.
We provide full-scope culturally sensitive, evidenced-based midwifery (and newborn) care to our population, about 75% of whom are from the Plain community (Amish, Mennonite, others) and a diverse group of additional families. All are committed to holistic, physiologic out-of-hospital birth and to a model of self-determination and shared decision making in their health care. We have a low cesarean rate and nearly 100% breastfeed.
We attended about 170 births in 2022. 75% registered for the birth center. About 10% were homebirths. We also attend births in our collaborative hospital (providing continuity of care), which is part of WellSpan Health. We offer water birth and a have a special service to those who wish to have a VBAC.
Our practice is well respected and valued in the community. We collaborate with many providers in the region. Among them are our Medical Director, our OB/CNM practice and a local MFM service who also perform ultrasounds at our office. The world-renowned Clinic for Special Children provides consultation, collaboration, and comprehensive care to our children and adults with genetic and other complex medical disorders.
