Our Community Birth Center is a community-focused organization in Springfield/Eugene, Oregon. We provide full scope nurse midwifery care in a birth center and clinic setting. Our services include pregnancy, birth, postpartum, ultrasound, newborn care, fertility, contraception, primary care, and gynecology. Our Community Birth Center has been open and providing services for over two years and during that time has established a robust and experienced team to support our midwifery work. Our Community Birth Center is located in the heart of the Eugene-Springfield area in Lane County, Oregon. It’s just a short drive to the ocean, mountains, desert, and many lakes and rivers. It’s also family friendly and has amazing food, farmers markets, and gardening. Oregon law grants full autonomous practice authority to Certified Nurse Midwives. The birth center is located next to a beautiful public park and river allowing for fresh air and peaceful walks. Position type: Full-time, salaried staff position (exempt).
Start Date: We are ready for a midwife to start as early as November 2024 and interested candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of their preferred start timeline.
Salary: $7,000 - $7,500 per month depending on experience with scheduled pay increase at the end of the first 6 months.

Hours: This position requires working days, nights, and weekends and includes a mix of on-call time, clinic days, and home-visits. This position also comes with Paid Time Off and holidays.
Expectations: 10 call days every 4 week period (240 hours on call) and 10 clinic days every 4 week period. Our practice accepts a maximum of 15 birth center due dates per month. A full time midwife should anticipate providing care to 3-5 labors/births per 4 week period. The on call midwife must remain within 30 minutes of the birth center if labor may be imminent and within 60 minutes if no labors are anticipated.
Birth Center Midwife Fellowship Program: Paid six month Midwifery Fellowship available for new graduates and midwives without prior community-birth experience. At the end of the Fellowship, the midwife will transition into a long-term position. Fellowship Salary & Benefits: Same as above.
Certification as a Certified Nurse Midwife by the American Midwifery Certification Board.
Unencumbered licensure in the State of Oregon as a Certified Nurse Midwife
Minimum of 6 months experience as a birth assistant, labor and delivery nurse, or practicing midwife in addition to completing all midwifery school requirements.
Eligibility to work in the United States.
Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish is preferred.
Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program and Basic Life Support certification.
Must qualify for malpractice insurance policy provided by Our Community Birth Center.
Training in management/care of obstetric emergencies such as Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) or another similar course or program.
Proficiency with Electronic Health Records, Microsoft Office products, Google Suite, Zoom, and a willingness to learn other computer databases and tools as needed.
Must possess and maintain a current, valid Driver License, and reliable transportation.
Must complete background check and driving record check successfully meeting our criteria.
Our Community Birth Center is a nonprofit community-focused birth center and clinic located in the Eugene-Springfield area of Oregon and serving residents of Lane County and surrounding areas. Our Community Birth Center provides wrap around health care and support for families, birthing parents, and babies. Our programs specialize in the care of the childbearing person and also include all options pregnancy counseling, newborn and lactation care, women’s and LGBTQIA+ health care, family planning, classes, social connection and community support, and postpartum home visits.
