Scripps Clinic Medical Group is seeking to add a full time dedicated Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to join our OB-GYN department at Scripps Memorial Hospital located in beautiful La Jolla, California. Scripps Clinic offers a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services that are nationally recognized for quality, excellence, and innovation. This is a unique physician/midwife collaborative approach to care working alongside excellent and supportive OB/GYN consulting physicians and specialists that includes 24/7 in house physician back up and a Level III NICU. The CNM will practice autonomously and in coordination with Scripps Clinic physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners within the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology to provide quality, safe, compassionate, and cost-effective health care to a diverse patient population.
Key Responsibilities
Must be comfortable with high volumes of triage evaluation and management, intrapartum, delivery and postpartum care for obstetrical patients consistent with the SCMG Practice Guidelines
Independently conduct normal spontaneous vaginal deliveries as needed with immediate care of the newborn, co-manage high risk patients with in-house OB/GYN physicians, and attend postpartum rounds as needed
Act as first assist in Cesarean Sections
Demonstrate ability to work independently while recognizing situations which require the immediate attention of a physician with appropriate consultation and or transfer to MD care
Effectively communicate and interact professionally, positively, and constructively with staff, physicians, patients, and the general public of varying and diverse backgrounds

This position requires a current California RN and CNM License, NP Furnishing Number, Certified Nurse Midwife and DEA Certificate.
Maintains National Certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board (ACMB) National Provider Number (NPI) and be an approved Medicare provider
NRP and BLS/CPR certification
Two (2) years of recent full scope midwifery Obstetrics and Gynecology including inpatient acute care experience preferred
OB Ultrasound proficiency preferred First assist at Cesarean Sections
Knowledge of professional fee billing and reimbursement methodologies Demonstrate skill in electronic medical records
