The USF Midwives are seeking a CNM to join a team of 11 CNMs. Midwives have been a part of the USF Health team for over 40 years. They are an integral part of all the missions of the College of Medicine, including clinical care, education, research/quality improvement, and service. This position will include full-scope midwifery care including outpatient management of primary health screening, health promotion, and the provision of care from adolescence through the lifespan as well as the neonatal period. This includes care related to preconception, pregnancy, labor, birth, postpartum recovery, normal newborn recovery, infant feeding including human lactation, comprehensive gynecologic/reproductive/sexual health care, and post-menopausal care.
We attend births at Tampa General Hospital (Baby-Friendly and Magnet Certified). Our Low-Risk L&D Team includes 1 CNM, 2-3 OBGYN Resident, 1(Night)-2(Day) OBGYN Generalist Attendings. We care for most of the laboring women and co-manage as needed. We have one person assigned to do postpartum rounds 7 days per week ½ day and the L&D team also shares in those responsibilities as needed. We also serve as a referral center for community-based midwives attending home and birth center birth in our area. We are strong advocates for normal physiologic birth and vaginal birth after cesarean.
Outpatient care is provided at three locations:
USF Health South Tampa Center for Advanced Healthcare (Davis Island)
TGH Outpatient Center (Brandon)
TGH Healthpark - Genesis (East Tampa)
Schedule:
We work 12-hour shifts on L&D - 7 am to 7 pm or 7 pm to 7 am and office days are 8 am to 5 pm. A typical schedule includes 2 office days and 2 L&D shifts. We rotate between days and nights and weekdays and weekends. The clinics are closed for major holidays.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Graduation from an academic nurse-midwifery program accredited by the Accreditation Commission of Midwifery Education.
Certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board and certificate maintenance.
Licensure by the State of Florida as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the nurse-midwifery category
Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization
Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.
Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative OB/CNM practice
Strong communication skills and intrapersonal skills
Value patient preferences/choices, shared decision-making, and a holistic care approach
PREFERRED:
New graduates will be considered for employment after certification and licensure.
Candidates with experience are preferred, especially experience in full scope practice and tertiary level care (Level III birth unit and nursery). A broad range of experience with inpatient prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care is preferred.
Demonstrated leadership in area of practice
Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic colleagues
Additional certifications in Obstetric Ultrasound, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, and/or Lactation consultation are preferred
