Wellstar Health System and WittKieffer have partnered in the search for a Vice President Medical Affairs (VPMA) for Wellstar Douglas Medical Center in Douglasville, GA. This is a tremendous opportunity for a dynamic physician executive to provide clinical leadership for a strong community hospital within one of Georgia's largest integrated health systems, known nationally for its innovative care models focused on quality improvement and increased access to healthcare.
Wellstar Douglas Medical Center joined Wellstar Health System in 1992 and serves as an anchor for the System Douglas County and the western suburbs of Atlanta since its founding in 1948. The 108-bed Wellstar Douglas Medical Center is located approximately 20 miles from downtown Atlanta. Wellstar Douglas Medical Center is accredited by The Joint Commission in Chest Pain, Primary Stroke Center, PCI (Angioplasty/Stenting) and hip and knee replacement surgeries. The hospital also features a Level II NICU and has won several recent awards for its strength in maternity care.
The VPMA is responsible for spearheading clinical initiatives aimed at improving quality and safety outcomes across the continuum of care. In addition, the VPMA will play a key leadership role in enhancing patient services, physician alignment and satisfaction, and leading evidence-based programs, practices and activities that deliver quality service and financial results.
The individual in this role is expected to be a performance-driven, collaborative physician leader. Key responsibilities of the role include physician relations, medical staff communications, and ensuring clinical input into strategic planning. The VPMA will maintain a proactive communications strategy with the medical staff and serve as the primary liaison between Administration and the medical staff. Key to the VPMA's effectiveness will be the ability to lead through influence and to interface with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
It is expected that the VPMA will have leadership oversight of performance for medical management and patient care metrics, safety initiatives, quality and service excellence, physician leadership development, physician relations, implementation of clinical information systems, medical staff affairs support, physician performance improvement and physician recruitment. Candidates must possess an MD or DO degree with appropriate board certification. Candidates must also be eligible for a medical license in the state of Georgia. An advanced degree in business administration, health administration, or similar is preferred.
