Certified Nurse Midwife / Certified Midwife, Poughkeepsie, NY (75 minutes North of New York City)

Vassar Brothers Medical Center, part of Nuvance Health, located just 75 minutes north of New York City, is seeking an experienced Certified Nurse Midwife to join our successful and growing OB/GYN group.  We are a collaborative Midwife/OB-GYN team providing care to a diverse patient population that draws from multiple counties in the Hudson Valley. We currently have five midwives in the practice and expanding to seven midwives to allow for continuous midwifery support for our patients. Our goal is to provide 24/7 midwifery coverage alongside our physician colleagues. If you are excited by the opportunity to help grow and shape a practice, this is the job for you!

The ideal candidate is dedicated to the midwifery model of patient empowerment, and to providing full scope care that is grounded in compassion and shared decision making. A full-time full-scope midwife will work on average two clinic days and one 24-hour call shift per week (80 hours per two week pay period). Weekends and holidays are shared amongst the group.

The ideal candidate will be a team player, have excellent communication skills, easily establish rapport and trust with patients and families, is committed to evidence-based care and practices, and values working with a diverse patient population. We are seeking a candidate that is reliable and adaptable and has a high level of clinical competence, compassion and empathy, commitment to patient education, cultural sensitivity, excellent interdisciplinary collaboration skills, and passion for lifelong learning and professional development.

We have practice offices located in Poughkeepsie, Fishkill and Highland and work alongside seven board certified physicians. The practice admits exclusively to Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Our busy Labor and Delivery Unit sees about 2,500 babies born each year and our practice directly manages approximately 1,000 of those births. We have a level III NICU staffed by neonatologists, as well as an excellent perinatology program. In addition, we have fellowship trained breast surgeons and GYN-oncologists that are located on the Vassar Hospital campus.

Job requirements include Certified Nurse Midwife or Certified Midwife credential, and active NY license, board certification, and DEA at start of position. New grads with Labor and Delivery nursing experience welcome to apply. Additional position preferences include experience in a high volume, high-risk, or low-resource setting, first assist for cesarean birth training, IBCLC certification, candidates that speak multiple languages, MVA experience, and menopause certification.

$120,000 - $155,000 annually, relative to experience. Up to 10% additional quality incentive annual bonus available.
