Principal Accountabilities:
1. Provides clinical nutrition assessment and documentation for patients with inborn errors of metabolism in the outpatient Genomic Medicine office.
2. Evaluates the nutritional status of patients by reviewing pertinent information obtained from the electronic medical record, interviews with patients and families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Possesses population-specific skill set in nutrition assessment.
3. Documents pertinent findings in the medical record as per policy.
4. Provides quality nutrition counseling to specific patient populations and family members as indicated.
5. Evaluates individualized nutrition care plans for effectiveness and recommends changes as needed based on laboratory data and clinical findings. Uses professional judgment to adapt and apply guidelines, protocols and professional standards of care to the new and changing needs of the patient.
6. Maintains quality assurance and evaluates compliance with corporate policies and procedures and State and Federal guidelines.
7. Reviews appropriate web sites, publications and other educational materials to ensure that the standards of practice are being achieved.
8. Maintain professional growth and development through continuing education, professional meetings and conferences to keep informed of current practices and trends in the fields of dietetics and nutrition. Apply current practices to nutritional care.
9. Coordinate with metabolic providers and clinic coordinators to submit documentation to insurance companies for medication and formula coverage.
10. Must be available to respond to urgent metters outside of standard business hours, as needed.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required:
1. Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, Home Science or related field.
2. Licensed with the State of New Jersey as a Registered Dietetic Technician or Registered Dietician or Dietary Manager Association or as applicable.
Preferred:
1. Master's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, Home Science or related field.
2. 2-3 year's experience in acute care clinical nutrition or relevant area.
